Working Meditation: Mala Making A mala can be many things, a beautiful necklace, a special gift infused with love, beads to count blessings or a meditation guide. They are as unique as the person that creates them. Mala is the Sanskrit word for garland or wreath, a circle of purity, and have been used in India in meditation for thousands of years. The act of repeating a prayer or mantra while holding and passing the beads through our fingers help anchor thoughts and still the mind so that we can reside in the present, sacred moment. Each mala is made of 108 beads, knotted together. Tying a mala is a meditative experience—making each knot can take us deeper into mindfulness. Infusing each bead with different prayers, wishes and intentions makes your mala a tangible expression of love. Malas are made of natural gemstone beads and finished with a quartz crystal. All materials are included and Jeriann will guide you each step of the way.
